The 1S26 23:50 London Euston to Glasgow Central sleeper service arrives at Carlisle 166 minutes late and headed by DB Schenker 90020 'Collingwood'. Originally intended to be diverted via the S&C, as the corresponding southbound 1M11 sleeper service was, the 1S26 was in fact held in the Preston area until landslip clearance work in the Oxenholme area had been completed. It is now twice in the same week that northbound sleeper passengers have been treated to extra time in their bunks as a result of the Lake District weather, and also twice that I have been given the rare opportunity of photographing a sleeper train in daylight without getting out of bed at an unearthly hour. Perhas not quite as impressive as its 'Jubilee' class namesake (45645) which could have been seen here in 1963, as a Carnforth-allocated (10A) engine, but a rather fine electric locomotive nevertheless.
