Kingmoor Departure ***Explored***

Stanier 'Black 5' 4-6-0 duo 45305 (carrying a late 1950s 53A Hull Dairycoates shed allocation plate) and 45407 move off Kingmoor up through siding and pass under Etterby bridge, Carlisle. This was the 5Z49 Cadder Yard to Carlisle positioning move preceding the 'Duchess' heading the 'Great Britain V' railtour by just 30 minutes. 45305 was to continue to Carnforth depot and 45407 to Grosmont on the North Yorkshire Moors Railway. One of my favourite loco spotting locations during my school summer holidays in the 1960s, during inclement weather, was under the arch to the right of the image. Almost 50 years later these unbelievable experiences are still possible! (Taken from a public access position in a position of safety behind palisade fencing)
