Uganda Police tops list of institutions violating journalists rights
A new report indicates that violation of journalist’s rights by the Uganda Police drastically reduced from 85 cases registered in 2013 to 40 in the year 2014, according to RadioOne
The report authored by defenders of journalist's rights, Human rights network for journalists Uganda (HRNJ-U) indicates that in total 124 cases of violations of media rights were received and investigated in 2014.
HRNJ-U National Co-coordinator Robert Ssempala attributes the reduction in violations of journalist’s rights to thorough engagement with the force and sensitization.
Other sectors leading in violating journalist’s rights include the judiciary, individuals, RDCs, UPDF and media houses among others.
