LeConte's Scarab Beetle (Chrysina lecontei) at Madera Canyon
This is a LeConte's Scarab Beetle (Chrysina lecontei) that a back lighter in Madera Canyon allowed me to photograph on July 23, 2012. They were large beetles and quite colorful. It almost makes me want to start an insect colection... It was the rarest of the three species of Chrysina that is found in this area. We also got to see several Glorious Scarab Beetles as well, but I had already posted a picture of them in the past.
There were a lot of Entomologists in the canyon that night and my nephew and I got to see a lot of neat insects. Thank you everyone!
