Mexican Fritillary (Euptoieta hegesia).2 - Copy

A rare butterfly for my area, this is the Mexican Fritillary (Euptoieta hegesia.) Kaufmans guide to butterflies calls it a stray, but with little damage to it's wings I doubt it came up to Tucson from Mexico. It must have breed in the area. Notice the lack of markings on the basal area of the hind wings. It was a lifer for me and new for my yard list.
