80-G-77014: Poon Lim, Chinese steward who survived 131 days on a raft in the South Atlantic. At the Office of the Committee on Emergency Rescue Equipment under the Coordinator of Research and Development, U.S. Navy Rear Admiral Julius Furer, USN, presents Poon Lim with a tempered glass signaling mirror, developed by the Committee. The signaling mirror is recommended use by airborne and Marine Services, as part of rescue equipment. Poon Lim was interviewed through Dr. Shan Yan Leung, by members of the technical staff for the purpose of bringing out information of use to future survivors and of help in the development of improved rescue equipment.
