Alice in Wonderland Quilt

This is my latest quilt. I made this for my daughter who is a big Alice fan. I'm so thrilled with how it turned out. I found the material on a trip to Rockhampton last May and for the quilt enthusiasts; it is fussy cut blocks; hand embroidered applique blocks (I copied the patterns from childrens colouring in pages) and redwork stitched blocks. I designed the quilt on graph paper starting with the sizes of the printed blocks, allowed 2 " sashes in between and some of these I divided into 2 " squares. I hand embroidered the appliquéd blocks and machine quilted the quilt. I hate quilting. Its like the interesting bits are all done and now its just going to hurt your hands but it had to be done. I sewed a button on each of the 2 " squares for added stability.

What a great time making this quilt, it fulfilled all my creative side and I almost wish I could have kept it myself but then it is for my precious daughter.
