With a bucket-list full of images I have in mind , it's nice to tick off some now and then. There are lots of far away landscapes or cities to long for. But also subjects that are not unreachable, but never were made while I just haven't been on the right spot in the right moment. In this case I was there and then last week.
These flaunting white peacock belongs to the menagerie of Staverden. From 1400, the castle Staverden was run by feudal lords who were charged with the duty of keeping white peacocks. The peacock feathers were used to adorn the duke's tournament helmet. Nowadays the current owner of Staverden (Geldersch Landschap & Kasteelen) collects the tail-feathers every year and donates a bouquet of them to the the King's Commissioner in the Province of Gelderland.
To have finally the opportunity to achieve this image gave me a real satisfied feeling. And I'm glad to share it!
