1953 Buick Skylark

I claim to be all about classic American cars from the 1950’s, yet its been a full year since I built a 50’s era car. Go ahead, look it up! There has been a lot of 60’s and 70’s cars, even a few modern vehicles but my favorite post-war ultra stylized era has been sadly lacking. This time I go back to my roots with this candy apple red custom 1953 Buick Skylark complete with a lowered, aggressive stance and a sideways opening hood. ’53 marks the 50th anniversary of Buick and the premier of the Skylark name. All Skylarks made in ’53 and ’54 were convertibles. The Skylark line was dropped in 1954 and remodeled and reintroduced in 1961 and has gone through several incarnations since.

This was built for The Animal Kingdom build challenge over at LUGNuts...because when the skylark isn’t a Buick, its a small bird who lives mainly in Europe and Asia. And now you know!
