007-Transmission electron microscopy

Created by Liz Hirst (Electron Microscopy Technical Platform)

This is a stylised drawing of a TEM image showing a macrophage cell in the process of ingesting bacteria by phagocytosis. Organelles depicted include phagocytic processes, mitochondrion, golgi body, endoplasmic reticulum, nucleus and nucleoli.

It was inspired by an original NIMR study evaluating drugs on M. tuberculosis infection in vitro in the Division of Mycobacterial Research.
