This contraption was build by Paul Satko after he lost his farm, gas station, and parking lot in Richmond, Virginia, USA during the Great Depression. In 1938 Satko , his pregnant wife, their 7 children and a cat traveled across the USA to Tacoma, Washington. He finished the boat there and in 1940 started to Alaska. After all kinds of trial the boat reached Juneau, Alaska. There they stayed until after the end of World War II when in 1946 most of the family returned to Virgina.
