A Fountain Full of Schoolgirls
Today I've posted a couple of photos from our trip to New York in 2010. Photos that were seemingly lost by me and have just been brought over from the States to us on a data-stick by my sister-in-law.
These schoolgirls from a private school (expensive uniforms?) had been on the Staten Island Ferry at the same time as Mags and I and like us had enjoyed viewing the Statue of Liberty from the free ferry ride. After the ferry Mags et moi had a meal on the terrace at Battery Park and then were walking along the park, when we heard a lot of laughter and squealing. The youngsters were rushing in and out of the fountains in Battery Park until they were soaked through, watched by their teachers. We thought this must have been an end-of-school term tradition because they were being watched by some very no-nonsense school-marms without being told-off ? They were doing this for quite a long time and by the time we left had attracted a large audience of bemused but smiling onlookers.
