Elysian Residence Bunch Design 2009-2014

When Hisako Ichiki and Bo Sundius purchased their home in Solano Canyon in 2009, it was a 100-year old rundown farmhouse set in an unpaved alley in the shadow of Dodger Stadium. Seeing potential, the couple, graduates of the Southern California Institute of Architecture (Sci-Arch), and principals of the architectural firm Bunch Design, began a transformation. Located on a half-acre plus lot, the couple added a guest house, a two bedroom, one bath cabin, with a unique ceiling of Douglas fir, which emphasizes linearity while making the house more intimate and cozy and yet appear much larger.

The complex, located at 1814 Brooks Avenue was part of the de LaB Home Tour: "Architects at Home", held on Saturday, May 10, 2014.
