New Zealand Silver Fern

The New Zealand Silver Fern gets it's name from the silver-whilte underside of the fronds. It has become a common symbol of New Zealand, and is on many sports team logos. It grows as a tree, up to 30 feet high with fronds of 12 feet in length, and is found throughout New Zealand. The green color of the top side of the fronds can be seen at the tips.
