    Camelot Cinema Newquay approx 1977. The film showing is "Muhammed Ali, The Greatest" which was released late in 1969. It closed as a cinema in 1995, and has now been converted to the Walkabout bar. It originally opened in 1912 as the Pavilion but was largely rebuilt in 1969 after a major fire. The Camelot seated 812, and was equipped for 70mm screenings.

      my family worked in pavillion cinema before it became the camelot mr vage was manager also they worked in victoria cinema where new cinema going and astor which changed to john nances now also gone we had three cinemas the cosy nook theatre now sealife centre and theatre where tunnels through time is it was when newquay was full of family visitors in summer heres hoping new cinema is going to be a hit . also does anyone remember the dry skate rink in tower road that was a great idea shame its not still here hope newquay gets some of its life back

      Seeing this photo brought back some very nice memories. Saw the Bond film 'For Your Eyes Only' here summer 1981 with my folks. I remember it being a very nice cinema.
