    The frontage of the Adelphi Cinema in Dublin. Extended upwards and with a garage entrance in place of the door, it is questionable if the facade was really worth saving!

      Hi there lovers of old Dublin Cinemas;

      The Adelphi Cinema opened its doors to a representative audience on Friday, January 13th 1939 and its first feature film was "The Adventures of Robin Hood" Starring Errol Flynn and Olivia De Haviland.

      Having made a decision to convert to a multi screen cinema the Adelphi closed in September of 1969 and reopened on October 8th 1970 with screens 1-2 & 3 and featured the following films, Screen No 1 "Kelly's Heroes," starring Clint Eastwood, Screen No 2 "Chisum," with John Wayne and Screen No 3 "Z" with Yves Montand.

      On Friday, November 23rd 1973 a fourth screen was opened by subdividing screen No 2.

      The Adelphi, sadly closed on November 30th 1995 and the last nights Golden Oldies shown were "High Society" and "Gigi"
