Chateau Laffitte-Teston, Madiran. From the southwest of France, made from the uncommon Tannat grape, although often blended with cabernet sauvignon and cabernet franc.

 

Chateau Bel Orme, Bordeaux Haut-Médoc.

 

Matayac, Cahors. Again southwestern France, and a strange blend of varietals: malbec, tannat, and merlot. Cahors often represents a good value for money, especially in the late night épiceries of Paris.
