STS Serpent

The STS Serpent is a large scale gyro-based exploration vessel. First developed as part of the International Development Initiative Of Transportation project, it has been used for deep space exploration for decades. The later versions of this SHIP have been fitted with large ion cannons on each side to ensure the safety of the crew.

It measures approximately 110-120 studs with the rear engine and the cannons. The ring itself is about 90-95 studs in diameter. It swooshes fairly nicely actually, but the weight of all the panels does make it rather hard to make tight turns...haha!

This year I wanted to try something a little different for SHIPtember, so I went with a circular shape. The "skeleton" of the SHIP is comprised of train-curves wich presented a really fun challenge to still make it fit as a spaceship. Hope you like it! Thanks to Oscar Cederwall (o0ger) fot feedback during the build, as well as Simon Liu for hosting this thing as always :)
