Indoor market--bazaar. The large fruits on the left with all the spines are durians. A real delicacy in SE Asia but an acquired taste for visitors. The spines are sharp but inside are large seeds and when ripe also contains the edible part that has the consistency of a custard but has a very strong and distinctive odor. It is the latter that is the hurdle to acquiring the taste. Some hotels ban possession of durians in the guest rooms.
