Soprano, Veronica Leigh Richer, is a recent graduate of the prestigious Boston Conservatory. During her studies at the Boston Conservatory, Richer performed the role of Olympia in the 2018 children’s opera, Pinocchio, and in the production of Eugene Onegin, with music by Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky. Richer was nominated by the staff of the Boston Conservatory for the 2018 Pi Kappa Lambda, the American National Honor Society of Music. Ms. Richer will be continuing her vocal studies with Amy Burton, professor of voice at Mannes College of Music (The New School of Performing Arts) in New York City.
As a young artist for Harvard's 2018 production of Die Fledermaus, Ms. Richer starred in the leading role as Rosalinde. In Opera Steamboat's 2018 season of The Cunning Little Vixen, Richer performed the roles: Cricket, Frantik, Chicken, and Jay. She also performed with the young artist program, Opera in the Ozarks (OIO) during the summer of 2017 as Jack in the production of Jack and the Beanstalk, and as part of the "Amanti Costanti" duet in Le Nozze di Figaro. Richer was found in the chorus as well in OIO's productions of Carmen and Figaro. Ms. Richer was featured in a scene's program as Erste Dame from Mozart's Die Zauberflöte and as Mrs. Nordstroms in Sondheim's A Little Night Music. Finally, she appeared as a cover for Mabel in 2016 with Massachusetts Institute of Technology Gilbert and Sullivan Society's production of The Pirates of Penzance.
On the International stage, Ms. Richer performed in Florence, Italy the operatic scene roles of Annio in Mozart's La Clemenza Di Tito, and in Mozart's Cosi' Fan Tutte as Dorabella. In addition, she performed in several Italian concerts while being vocally coached by Grammy Award winner, Benita Valente.
While still in high school, Richer had extensive opera chorus experience with the Toledo Opera Company. With their production of Faust, she graced the stage with an illuminating performance. Two years earlier, Ms. Richer made another debut while working with the Eastman School of Music summer program. She performed in their scene's program in The Promise of Living by Copland. Throughout 2013 and 2014, Richer had opera scene roles with the Eastman Community School, including: Pamina in The Magic Flute by Mozart, and Angel 1 in A Midsummer Night's Dream by Shakespeare.
Ms. Richer has also received numerous awards including the honor of winning a merit scholarship from the Eastman School. Most recently, She has won several merit scholarships including: The Boston Conservatory merit scholarship, The Stover/Knight Music and Performing Arts Scholarship, and the Toledo Symphony Orchestra vocal merit scholarship. Richer was a vocal winner for the 2014 Barry Alexander International Vocal Competition and is a finalist for the 2016 Classical Singer Magazine Competition. Ms. Richer was selected as a semi-finalist in The American Prize Vocal Competition for College/University Opera division (women) for 2017.
Ms. Richer has made several television appearances. She has worked in recording studios, recording as a soloist as well as producing rehearsal learning tracks for college ensembles and regional choirs. Richer is from Bryan, Ohio and currently resides in Brooklyn, New York.
