During these Covid-19 immobility times, here’s another image from my archive.
Perth, the engagingly pleasant capital of Western Australia, is one of my favourite cities, not least because of its wide open spaces, notably the 400 hectare Kings Park. On a visit in 1991, I loved this shop sign in William Street – telling it the way it is, as only Australians can.
Actually, it put me in mind of something else I saw in Australia, this time in Adelaide: a high-sided van on the move, bearing the slogan ‘If you drink and drive you’re a bloody idiot’. Again, saying it like it is, without mincing words.
