Versailles - King's Suite

In 1668 Le Vau extended the palace by encasing it in an "envelope" of stone; he built the six rooms making up the Grand Apartment and laid out a spacious terrace overlooking the gardens. The State Apartments comprise the King's Suite (shown here) on the north and the Queen's Suite to the south, facing the sun.
