Ingo Guenther at the Autostadt in Wolfsburg

When I was in Germany I naturally went to visit the Autostadt in Wolfsburg. In the GroupForum (the entry point to the Autostadt) under a plate glass floor, is an illuminated artwork by Ingo Guenther called the Field of Globes. I love it very much and so do the children who visit. And just for those who want further information continue reading...

70 globes painted and lit address topics such as population demographics, CO2 spirals and refugee movements. This one shows the largest cities in the world. It is a comprehensive illustration of teh state of the world. Globe 217 for example shows a dense network of lines around the equator, a mega traffic jam which, theoretically, would occur if all the cars in the world were placed bumper to bumper around the planet. The line would circle the globe 72 times.

Suspended above the field is the sculpture Exosphere weighing 5 tons but floating effortlessly. It has a scale of 1 to a million.
