Tower House

The detailing shows that this was a building of the Royal Arsenal Co-operative Society. Built in 1933.

The RACS building has deco relief showing cars, trains and ocean liners in the style of the time.

The Royal Arsenal Co-operative Society was formed in 1868, and was a consumer co-operative that began in a room in Plumstead and expanded in the next hundred years across the south-east.

This building was one of the co-operative's department stores.
