Water Distilling

We recently ordered a distiller to experiment with. I hooked it up

today to see how well it worked and the results have been impressive.

Here is the conductivity for our different water sources:

- hot spring mineral water: 3200 PPM

- city water: 575 PPM

- our reverse osmosis water: 180 PPM

- our rain water: 30 PPM

- our distiller: 5 PPM

Now the distiller has it's drawbacks. It took 4 hours to filter one

gallon of water and drew 2.29 kwh of juice. That is about 1/6th of our

daily solar budget. We have the energy to run the distiller this time

of year, but as the weather warms up and monsoon starts we will not be

able to use it.
