Ohio Buckeyes Candy - Photo/Picture with Recipe
Fun candy. My father ate this when he was a boy in Ohio.
I can't remember which recipe we used, but here are two that I kept:
1 stick butter
1 lb confectioner's sugar
1 1/2 cup peanut butter (12 oz)
1 tsp vanilla
1 pkg chocolate chips (12 oz)
1/2 parowax stick
Mix butter, sugar, peanut butter and vanilla and form into balls. Chill one hour.
Melt chocolate chips and parowax in double boiler. Insert toothpick into balls and dip 2/3 into the chocolate
(leave 1/3 of each ball uncovered to make "buckeye"). Place on wax paper to cool. Smooth over toothpick hole for best appearance.
(We made this recipe in November; it could probably use less parowax.)
Alternative recipe:
3/4 lb powdered sugar
1 stick margarine
1 cup peanut butter
Blend to form balls.
Place on cookie sheet put toothpicks in and refrigerate to chill.
pkg chocolate chips
1/2 stick para wax
Melt together. Dip balls in partway, leaving a spot for "buckeye."
