Grand Summer Evening

This image was captured late Saturday evening in a pasture across the road from our house in northern Loudoun County, Virginia. We have seen so many great sunsets and this one was looking good as the clouds seemed to be hanging around longer than many summer nights. Unfortunately as the sun sank below the top of Short Hill Mountain that vivid color I'd expected to see painting the undersides of the clouds never came. Always a disappointment but it's not a sure thing anyway. Part of the joy and excitement of shooting sunsets and sunrises. :)

Fortunately I started shooting when the sun was still up doing it's gold color thing. This is a seven exposure HDR leaning toward the dark side as I had the exposure compensation set to -.7 to keep "blown out" areas at a minimum while preserving the shadow details.

Thank you, in advance, for having a closer look and for any comments you might care to share. :)
