Jaguar GR1A RAF

25 years ago, on 17 January 1991, the (first) Gulf War began. I too remember watching CNN for hours when the F-117's first bombed targets in and around Baghdad. Great fireworks.

RAF Jaguars of 6, 41 and 54 squadrons were sent to the area to join in the war. They flew reconnaissance missions and were very effective in attacks against Iraqi ships and landing craft. The Jags flew over 600 sorties without any loss. Their camouflage was changed to 'desert'.

XZ363 of 41 squadron is seen on static at Chièvres (Belgium) on 31 August 1991. The Jaguar crashed on 25 July 2001.
