Almost Home - April 23
Photos from "Almost Home/Casi Llegando a Casa" program on April 23, 2017.
This workshop invited people to share stories about what makes us feel at home, how we’ve been affected by rising rents, times we stood up for neighbors, and times we wish we had.
This was the launch event of “Almost Home/Casi Llegando a Casa,” a series that aims to strengthen community connections in Jackson Heights, Elmhurst, and Corona, Queens, through public storytelling programs, participatory art installations, and video that explore themes of home, vulnerability, resilience, and resistance. This project explores the meaning of “home” through telling the powerful stories of the challenges our communities face, and the struggles and inspiring victories that local organizers have won for housing justice and immigrants’ human rights.
This project is a collaboration with Queens Neighborhoods United and is generously supported by More Art and Citizens Committee for NYC.
