Queens and Marines; CelebratingDiversity
Thank you to all the staff, students and parents/carers who helped us make this year’s School Diversity Week the biggest ever. The whole purpose of the week was for the children to value what makes us different and special, to look at different families and to know that love is love regardless of who it is between. Diversity is really important to our school and it was great to see the work going on throughout the school, from reception to phase 4. In phase 1 & 2, we were lucky enough to welcome Mary and Aurora who talked about their lives as drag queens and how there is not just one way to be a boy or a girl. In phase 3 & 4, we welcomed contributions from LGBT+ students and staff who planned and lead workshops and briefings. Our rainbow mufti and rainbow ribbon badges created by phase 2 children helped us raise £300 for Just Like Us, a charity that supports LGBT+ young people nationally and runs School Diversity Week and Pride in Plymouth, a charity that helps LGBT+ individuals in Plymouth. Thank you for all your support and love definitely wins here at Plymouth School of Creative Arts!
