RDC: Au cúur du combat contre líÈpidÈmie díEbola
18 January 2019 - Beni, North Kivu region, Democratic Republic of Congo.
Community representatives come to visit a family in the outskirts of Beni to raise awareness about Ebola.
Abdou Salam Gueye, Response Coordinator for the World Health Organization (WHO)
"Community representatives are the people who contact the population. Whenever we need to get information out, or to explain something, we send these community health workers, after training them, of course. And if communities want to tell things to the workers who are tackling this epidemic, they go through the community health representatives."
"Whenever we have a confirmed case, we first list those who have had contact with the infected person and then those in contact with these contacts. All these people will be vaccinated and monitored for a given period to evaluate the vaccine's effectiveness." Photo: World Bank / Vincent Tremeau
