Students in computer programming class at Al Shami Girls Secondary School

Students in computer programming class at Al Shami Girls Secondary School. The school, established in 2004, is very important for the education of the girls in the Beit Our Titha community near Ramallah. It was build by Sheikh Faruk Al-Shami, but now run by the Ministry of Education. The school has 300 girls and serves a community of five villages. Before, the girls had to go to schools in Ramallah. It saves the families money on education. Now, more girls than boys are being educated. Photo: Arne Hoel / World Bank
