Eastern Amberwing 07

    Newer Older

The Eastern Amberwing is one of the smallest dragonfly species in the U.S. It is only about one inch long (not much bigger than a wasp). This is a male. Photographed at the pond in Bob Jones Park in Southlake, Texas on May 30, 2009.
Note: The original image after edit was still somewhat flat so I did something I almost never do with my nature photos. Using GIMP, I lightly applied the Artistic>Cartoon filter to give it a little more contrast.

He came out beautiful Ken. The cartoon filter is well applied, it doesn't look overdone at all.
