Most of the south wall of the excavation for the future Metro Downtown Connector subway station on First Street in the Little Tokyo district of LA (a few blocks east of City Hall). Part of the floor is still just re-bar awaiting the concrete. Several old buildings were demolished to make way for the hole.
Meanwhile near the other end of the Connector traffic was diverted from Flower Street to allow excavation and decking between 4th and 5th Street. Attempted to get a view - was stopped by police when walking up Flower Street. Then several robotic bomb disposal vehicles traveled up and down Flower Street at very high speed - probably just a training exercise. Then allowed to continue up Flower Street - however the construction site was completely inaccessible.
