FS 5062 a 1932 Bedford VYC delivery van

This particular VYC dates from 1932 and was supplied new by the Scottish Motor Traction Company of Edinburgh to R Lamb & Son, wholesale confectioners of Longtown, Cumbria. Used for local cake and confectionery deliveries before the war, it was then put into storage when hostilities broke out and was to remain there for the next 50 years.

In the late 1980's an antiques dealer, Thomas Potts bought the old Lamb & Son bakery in Longtown and discovered the Bedford still languishing in an outbuilding . He then treated it to a sympathetic restoration and used it locally to promote his own business for a short time before laying it up yet again.

It then passed to a new owner around 2010 who thoroughly recommissioned it, getting it MOT’d and returning it to the road in August 2011. It was then sold in a Brightwells auction in July 2013, & a subsequent owner has since 'rebuilt' it into an ice cream van seen recently in Green Park, London, owned by Colicci.
