The dining room at Woods Sherbrooke was filled with paintings, and doubles as a gallery. The paintings were a pleasant addition, and no doubt a good opportunity to gain exposure.
LITERATI' - Current works by Lisa Harvey
'Literati' is the term given to describe the style of Chinese painting where objects are not portrayed realistically but instead through a freestyle play of brush and paint. In the early 10th century the style first emerged, placing more emphasis on the expression of idea and feelings rather than copying subjects in perfect detail as typified by the 'Meticulous' style.
Recent visits to China and Hong Kong where Lisa viewed a number of excellent examples of Chinese painting, inspired her to create her own interpretation. She is particularly attracted to the subtle use of colour, shade and form in these elegant works. Lisa has a passion for calligraphy and flowing ink strokes and the sense of calm and serenity expressed in many Chinese works of art, particularly those of the 'Literati' style. Her most recent collection of works is created to convey the same sense of elegant serenity. They have been created to harmonise with today's contemporary interiors.
Lisa hopes you will enjoy viewing her exhibition.
