炭烧鱿鱼 Whole Chargrilled Calamari - Tea Garden AUD24

The star of dinner must have been the 炭烧鱿鱼 whole chargrilled calamari. The calamari was tender and smoky from the chargrill with the tentacles charred to a nice crisp, but not burnt. This was complemented by a honey soy sauce almost reminiscent of a teriyaki sauce.

 

Ordering this was a bit of luck, since I noticed the 炭烧鱿鱼 whole chargrilled calamari just beneath the 椒盐鲜鱿 Salt and Pepper Squid and asked the waiter his opinion. As it turns out, the 椒盐鲜鱿 Salt and Pepper Squid was crumbed before being tossed in a spicy jumble of chilli peppers, garlic and salt. Nothing compared to the chargrilled calamari!

Part of the 红茶馆 Tea Garden group of restaurants. Good, delicate Chinese food, served in the entree, main, dessert Western-style which isn't really meant for sharing.

 

The promise of daily Yum Cha sessions is however, quite enticing.
