Amuse Bouche - Azuma Chifley AUD26

Amuse Bouche:

- Pacific oyster and salmon roe with citrus soy sauce

- Prawn marinated in Nanban sauce

- Grilled Saikyo Silver cod fillet

- Teriyaki Chicken

- Minced Chicken Skewers

- Spinach with Sesame Sauce

- Grilled Scampi with homemade tartare sauce

The Amuse Bouche is technically a small morsel of food designed to enliven your appetite, Azuma's interpretation was as multiple small morsels on a platter and it definitely excited our tastebuds!

The tempura prawn in Nanban sauce was amazing. Succulent prawn in a spongey batter soaked in an almost sweet and sour sauce.

The marinated Saikyo Silver Cod had a rich mildly fermented flavour. It was given a syrupy glaze before being grilled. Could be quite a shock to the palate if you're not used to the taste. I liked it :)

---

We've heard a lot about Azuma from friends, so we owed it to ourselves to visit. We were not disappointed!

All the waitstaff seemed authentically Japanese and indeed, there were several tables of Japanese enjoying their dinner. That is definitely a good sign.
