Then came the Julia's beef glistening with a rich sauce. It was the "Fillet of Hunter Valley Beef, wrapped in my own bacon with warm kipfler and baby pea salad and red wine mushroom jus". See what I mean by too much? Even the menu entry is a mouthful. Still, the beef was beefy with a nice charring and cooked to a tender and moist medium-rare. Yum! The mushrooms were also good, but the potato salad seemed too much, and the creamy mayonaise interfered with the rich jus, which was more of a sauce really.

Good food but a little restraint would make it even better!
The dinner really was quite good overall, marred by putting too many things in the dishes which didn't necessarily fit. It's obvious that our tastebuds tend to favour more straightforward dishes untainted by colourful menu descriptions and fancy fusion of flavours.
