Jjampon with handmade noodles - Hello Cook AUD8

A wintry day calls for hot and spicy food!


The Jjampon didn't disappoint with it's fiery garlicky seafood soup and chewy handmade noodles. One of Julia's favourite noodles in Melbourne. Funny to read the Champon on wikipedia that it is a Fujian Chinese noodle dish that was spread to Japan and Korea by Chinese immigrants!


The bibimbap was pretty good too with fragrant sesame oil and a nice mix of vegetables. The chicken was grilled and tossed in doenjang, a sweet, spicy bean paste. It's a bit that the stone bowl wasn't hot enough to give the rice a burnt rice crust, like a crispy soccarat in a good paella. Interestingly there were 2 cute little egg yolks, probably quail egg yolks. They made the rice very rich, maybe even a bit too rich!
