Decor - Jok Sampet
It seems like Thais love savoury congee or rice porridge for breakfast too! Jok Sampet is one of the mroe famous jok places in Chiang Mai. The jok wasn't bad, but the texture wsa a bit gritty. Perhaps they took a shotcut and ground or crushed the grains of rice before boiling it, to make it cook in less time, but didn't manage to cook it for long enough.
To compliment our breakfast, we also ordered some 蟹肉烧卖 crab siumai and 叉烧包 salapao steamed buns filled with charsiu BBQ pork. I also snuck outside to grab some pandan and coconut cream cakes and some paa thawn koh, also known as 油条 youtiao Chinese doughnuts. Perfect with porridge :)
