Stir-fried fish fillets with snow peas AUD15 and Peking Pork Ribs AUD12 - Myrtleford Chinese Restaurant

---

After 3 straight days of fast food lunches, we arrived into Myrtleford in the evening, hungry. The only places open were a few fast food takeaways, the hotel / bistro / pub, a dodgy Italian place with a painted on chalkboard menu, a rather run-down Canton Village Chinese Restaurant, and the Myrtleford Chinese Restaurant. No sign of fresh seasonal produce anywhere.

After a bit of a debate, we decided for a change of pace and went into the Myrtleford Chinese Restaurant. Being greeted by 2 Aussie girls in short short Cheongsams was a bit of a surprise. At least the boss-lady was Chinese, and from the kitchen, you could hear the wok-burners whooshing fire and Cantonese conversation, all good signs. Did I mention the short Cheongsams? :P

A nice touch was the drops of sesame oil on the chicken and corn soup.

The Peking Pork Ribs were hunks of Chinese-style roast pork doused in a sweet and sour sauce, which could have been a bit more tart. But hey, at least the pork wasn't covered in inch-thick batter! The snow peas and fish with fresh and provided a nice comforting contrast to the pork.

We stuck with simple food and it was quite satisfying and not too heavy for the rest of the drive home.
