We used to love Ants Bistro in the Corrs Lane, especially the Dragon-Eye mini buns. We were quite excited that they opened in Box Hill and gave it a shot. What a disappointment. Granted, we only had the dimsum, and none of the mains which are usually done by separate chefs, so we might, if we're brave, give it a second chance next time.

 

The dimsum snacks quite quite ridiculous, ranging from a blob of gooey "sesame sauce" in the 棒棒鸡 Bonbon Chicken to liberal lashings of sweet sauce (Hoisin perhaps?) on the 龙抄手 Long Chao Shou wontons, nothing like the Long Chao Shou Wontons we had in Sichuan.

 

Then there's culinary slip-ups like freezer-burnt 朝州粉果 Teochew Fun Gor dumplings. Unforgivable.
