An unremarkable little shop catering mostly to Malaysian and Singaporean students, serving large portions, but stingy on the toppings.
Being a public holiday for Australia Day on the 26 January, the only choices were the Ipoh Hor Fun, Mee Soto and the Mui Fan. All AUD8.90 each.
The Ipoh Hor Fun was ok, let down by frozen prawns that were probably freezer-burnt, and not very fresh either.
The Mee Soto didn't seem very authentic. Despite having a beef and potato fritter, the soto ayam soup was thick but lacking in spices.
Interestingly, what was called a "Mui Fan" was a mound of rice with various meats cooked in an eggy sauce, a bit like a Char Hor Fun sauce, and ladled on top. Nothing fantastic either.
It's a pity Taste of Singapore was closed, otherwise, we would never have tried this place.
Because we were early, the owner chatted to us about their "Original 2004 Glen Waverley Nasi Lemak" under the Sue'z Delights, explaining that they had a chicken drumlet and omelette, as well as separately wrapped ikan bilis (deep fried anchovies) and kacang (peanuts) and sold at various Chinese groceries in Glen Waverley.

He seemed a bit disgruntled when an Indonesian shop nearby started selling Nasi Uduk on Fridays, believing that they pre-empted customers coming to his shop for Nasi Lemak on Saturdays. When mum asked for a printed menu with the specials on certain days, he piffed the idea saying others will steal it to imitate. What a bitter man. Well... his story is on the internet now! :P
Besides, if your food is good, and the price is right who cares if there are imitators. Imitation is the sincerest form of flattery, isn't it?
