My Mum's Laksa - Laksa Me
My Mum's Laksa - Laksa Me AUD9, served with a dollop of sambal with a strong hit of shrimp paste, lemongrass and chilli.
In fact, the chilli was a bit much. I could taste the ginger bud, galangal, lemongrass and cloves, but the more subtle flavours weren't as obvious.
The curry soup itself was thick and rich, with little flecks of pounded onions and lemongrass. I presume it was thickened with coconut milk, but that flavour didn't seem to come through.
Not bad, but a little disappointing for curry laksa fans search for the "lemak" (creaminess) of the coconut milk.
Full description from the Lunch Menu:
My Mum's Laksa
Originated from Ipoh, Malaysia, this is another version of Curry Laksa. The main difference is, instead of the common Rice Vermicelli, we use thin "Hor Fun" (Pho noodles), served with Char-Siu pork, shredded chicken and prawns in my Mum's fragrant Laksa broth.

A bit of a scouting mission to check out Laksa Me. The opinion of The Age Cheap Eats guide can occasionally differ from mine when it concerns Asian food, especially South East Asian food.

We had a wonderful dinner at Horoki, and I was pleased to see that they offer a three options for a Horoki Lunch Platter.
