Berlin people call this building "Schwangere Auster" which means "pregnant oyster". Since 1989 it is as "Haus der Kulturen der Welt" ("House of world cultures") an institution for multicultural events. Formerly, it was the berlin congress hall which was built 1956/57.

I still remember the day in 1980 when the roof partly collapsed, killing a Berlin radio journalist.
