Santa Monica pier Pacific Park is one of the most photographed and photogenic piers in California. It's been seen in many films and television productions. I've photographed it many times and seen countless photographs by others. Patrick Smith has captured the beauty and excitement of this Southern California icon at night as well as any image I've seen.

Huntington Beach, California "Surf City USA". Jerri Johnson has posted a number of lovely images of this pier. I'm captivated by the brilliant color, subtle reflection and point of view in this one...the best of a host of really fine Huntington Beach Pier images by this photographer. Bravo Jerri!

My gallery would not have been complete without an image of the Ventura pier. I'm very proud of my own images of this pier...(some of my best work, see my photostream and sets) but Jenn(ovaunda's) image shot from the top of a hill at dusk merits inclusion in my best of the best.

Stearn's Wharf in Santa Barbara has long interested me as a photographic subject, yet everytime I go there with the explicit mission of shooting images I seem to miss getting what I want. In this panoramic shot (or stitching)beachwalker2009 got what I was hoping to get and so much more. I love this dusk shot and reflections. Well done!

I've always loved Avila Beach near San Luis Obispo on the Central Coast. Its a great beach, but I don't want to let too many non-Californian's in on that secret and spoil it for those of us who love to go there. Mimi Ditchie's beautiful wide angle evening shot not only shows us the beauty of the beach and the pier, but the reflections and capture of the moon are special. Very nice shot Mimi!

The pier at glamorous Malibu California. In disrepair for sometime has recently reopened its restaurants. I've stood on the exact spot where this image was created many times shooting pictures of surfers. This long night exposure by Menetnashte is remarkable for the lush stillness of the water and the beautiful reflection of light that leads the eye to the far end of the pier

stars4esther has produced a human scale image of the Trinidad Pier. This is the northernmost pier in the California and by comparison with some of the others in my gallery it is a relatively short pier only 520 feet long. I selected this image for its point of view and perspective. stars4esther was also kind enough to place some human beings in the image and some fog off-shore fog too. This is a nice round-off to complete my gallery.

This unique image of the abandoned and deteriorating pier in Davenport California, a small town along the rugged coastline between San Francisco and Santa Cruz, is a real beauty. The image is a testament to the skill and persistence of the photographer Jim Patterson. This has it all drama and wow appeal! Congratulations Jim.
