Leaving Anacapa Island
This image was taken as our boat "Vanguard" was leaving east Anacapa Island for our return trip to Channel Islands Harbor on the mainland. Two of the most prominent features of the island, the lighthouse and archrock (though not the arch itself) are visible. There are no beaches on this island and it is necessary to debark and climb to the top of the island via a staircase consisting of 150 steps. The ascent can be arduous and exhausting particularly for more senior individuals like me. The offshore fog that had been present in the morning can be seen on the left half of this image.
