The African bush elephant or African savanna elephant (Loxodonta africana) is the larger of the two species of African elephant. Elephants living inside the Ngorongoro Crater tend to be elderly males who stay in the area year-round; gGrazing is always good here and there's no need for them to leave. Families of elephants tend to live in the highland forests around the rim of the crater.
