I'm Back. A4 60019 Bittern ECML.

At last after many cancellations of this run today was the day 1st December 2007.The White Rose Kings Cross-York with ex LNER A4 Class No 60019.

This was her first time on the mainline since the 1970s after undergoing a full restoration at the Mid Hants railway in Hampshire.

Built at Doncaster in 1937 with the garter blue livery Bittern was based at Heaton in Newcastle where she served the famous Flying Scotsman train in the section Kings Cross-Newcastle.After the war now in brunswick green No 60019 pulled the Talisman express from Kings Cross-Edinburgh.During the end of steam on the mainline she worked in Scotland and had the dubious honour of heading the last A4 service from Glasgow-Aberdeen.Her final day in service was September 3rd 1966.

I have removed the overhead cables from the original photograph that spoil many a good shot on the ECML.Trying to recreate the shot that was possible before the war when No 60019 worked this line.
